Where's My Bible/M 'N' R/Inverse Records/2018 CD Review

  Where's  My  Bible  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  mixture  of  deathcore  and  death'n'roll  with  elements  of  punk  and  black  metal  with  a  musical  style  they  refer  to  as  mosh'n'roll  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "M  'N'  R"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Inverse  Records.

  A  very  distorted  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  death'n'roll  direction  which  also  captures  the  raw  energy  of  punk  rock  while  the  screams  also  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  a  mixture  of  hardcore  style  shouting  and  death  metal  growls.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  some  elements  of  deathcore  being  added  into  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs.

  pig  squeals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  acoustic  guitars  and  keyboards  can  also  be  heard  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  along  with  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  one  track  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  vocals,  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  movie  and  spoken  word  samples. 

  Where's  my  Bible  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  death'n'roll  and  deathcore  and  mixes  them  with  elements  of  punk  and  black  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  humorous  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Where's  my  Bible  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  death'n'roll  and  deathcore  with  elements  of  punk  and  black  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Speedload"  "Meatholder'  and  "Failure".  8  out  of  10.  

Blutrina/DiscoBallz/Loud Rage Music/2018 EP Review

  Blutrina  are  a  band  from  Romania  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  humorous  form  of  grindcore  with  some  elements  of  black,  death  metal  and  crust  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  ep  "DiscoBallz"  which  was  released  by  Loud  Rage  Music.

  Saxophones  start  off  the  ep  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  clean  playing  also  being  used  briefly  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

  Elements  of  grindcore  can  also  be  heard  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  vocals  also  bringing  in  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  screams  as  well  as  the  songs  being  remakes  of  80's  and  90's  pop  songs  and  influences  of  crust  and  black  metal  are  utilized  at  times  and  all  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length  and  they  also  bring  in  an  a  couple  instrumentals,  clean  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  Blutrina  takes  some  classic  pop  songs  and  turns  them  into  grindcore  covers  while  also  mixing  in  influences  of  death,  black  metal  and  crust,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  humorous  themes.

  In  my  oipnion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  form  Blutina  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  humorous  grindcore,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Touch"  and  "Kenny's  Ressurection".  8  out  of  10.

Altars/Self Titled/Sentient Ruin Laboratories/2018 EP Review

  Altars  are  a  band  from  San  Jose,  California  that  plays  a  mixture  of  death  metal  and  grindcore  with  a  touch  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2018  ep  which  will  be  released  on  August  23rd  by  Sentient  Ruin  Laboratories.

  A  very  dark,  distorted  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  before  going  into  a  very  fast  grindcore  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  most  of  the  tracks  being  short  in  length.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  as  well  as  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  influenced  by  the  old  school  by  the  u.K  death metal  and  grindcore  bands.

  Altars  plays  a  style  of  death/grind  that  is  very  heavily  rooted in  the  90's  United  Kingdom  era  while  also  adding  in  more  of  a  modern  blackened  atmosphere,  the  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  occult  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Altars  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  death  metal  and  grindcore  with  a  blackened  touch  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Unholy  Retribution"  and  "Black  Magic".  8  out  of  10.

  Total  Fucking  Destruction  are  a  band  from  Pennsylvania  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  hardcore  and  grind  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "#USA4TFD"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Give  Praise  Records.

  A  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into a   very  fast  grindcore  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  a  mixture  of  hardcore  shouts  and  death  metal  growls  as along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  also  being  used  at  times. 

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  clean  singing  can  also  be heard  briefly  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  mixing  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  and  as  the  album  progresses  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Total  Fucking  Destruction  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  their  mixture  of  hardcore  and  grind,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  insanity,  hate,  society  and  humor  themes.


  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Total  Fucking  Destruction  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  hardcore  and  grind,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Youth  Apocalypse"  "Grotesque  Fornication"  "Hater"  adn  "Push".  8  out  of  10.  

Whisker Biscuit/Kill For Beer/Give Praise Records/2018 CD Review

  Whisker  Biscuit  are  a  band  from  Canada  that  plays  hardcore  punk  with  a  touch  of  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Kill  For  beer"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Give  Praise  Records.

  A  very  fast  crust  influenced  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  semi  melodic  vocals  while  back  up  gang  shouts  are  also  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  bringing  in  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length.

  Vocals  are  mostly  done  in  a  hardcore  punk  style  while  movie  samples  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  old  school  style  and  all  of t he  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  In  my  opinion  Whisker  Biscuit  are  a  very  great  sounding  hardcore  punk  group with  a  touch  of  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Tit  Pit"  "Blood  Money  Beer"  "Riot  Squad"  and  "Kill  For  beer".  8  out  of  10.

  Burst  are  a  band  from  New  Caledonia  that  plays  a  very  harsh  mixture  of  crust  and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "You  Must  Die"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Give  Praise  Records.

  Air  raid  sirens  and  spoken  word  and  war  samples  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  grindcore  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  a  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  as  well  as  the  music  also  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  crust  elements.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  along  with  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  being  very  short  in  length  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  at  time  the  vocals  bring  in  guttural  growls  and  pig  squeals.

  Burst  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  crust  and  grindcore  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  something  very  harsh  and  brutal  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent,  angry  and  real  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Burst  are  a  very  great  sounding  harsh  mixture  of  crust  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Working  To  Death"  "Fuck  Yourself"  "GHB"  and  "You  Must  Die".  8  out  of  10.

  Florida's  Tyrants  Of  Hell  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  their  old  school  mixture  of  crust,  grindcore,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  ep  review  "Perversion,  Disease  And  Satanic  Sleaze"  which  was  released  on  cassette  by  Caligari  Records.

  Horror  movie  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  which  also  introduces  screaming  vocals  onto  the  recording  while  the  music  also  mixes  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  also  being  utilized  as  well  as  the  music  also  mixing  in  d  beats.

  All  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  80's  to  early  90's  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  music  also  mixing  in  elements  of  thrash,  crust  and  grindcore  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  sticking  to  more  of  an  old  school  style  and  they  close  the  ep  with  a  cover  of  Bathory's  "Reaper".

  Michigan's  Cloud  Rat  have  returned  with  a  compilation  album  which  showcases  their  material  that  was  released  on  splits  and  ep's  with  this  music  being  a  mixture  of  grindcore  and  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  compilation  "Clipped  Beaks  Silk  Panic"  which  was  released  by  Moment  Of  Collapse.

  Harsh  noise  sounds  start  off  the  compilation  before  going  into  a  very  fast  grindcore  direction  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  screams  as  well  as  the  music  also  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  crust  punk  elements  and  most  off  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length.

  Throughout  the  compilation  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast parts  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  along  with  some  tracks  also  bringing  in  more  of  a  clean  vocal  that  is  more  rooted  in  80's  era  punk  and  as  the  compilation  progresses  growling  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  elements  of  noise  also  making  a  brief  return  and  one  track  also  introduces  synths and  spoken  word  parts  onto  the  compilation,  one  song  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  some  tracks  also  add  in  influences  of  shoegaze  and  post  hardcore. 

  On  this  compilation  Cloud  Rat  brings  out  a  very  diverse  mixture  of  grindcore  and  punk,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Women's  Right,  Veganism  and Self  Empowerment  themes.
