Uncle Ray/Self Titled/2014 EP Review

  Uncle  Ray  are  a  band  from  Windsor,  Ontario,  Canada  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grindcore  and power  violence  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  and  self  titled  2014  ep.

  A  very  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  ep  before  adding  in  heavy  guitars  and  high  pitched  screams  which  leads  up  to  a  mixture  of  slow  and  mid  paced  parts  before  going  into  a  faster  direction  and  adding  in  blast  beats  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  going  for  a  more  heavy  and  old  school  sound.

  Once  the  grindcore  speed  is  added  into  the  music  the  band  starts  having  a  more  brutal  sound  that  also  unleashes  the  raw  aggression  of  crust  punk  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  ep  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  all  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length  with  the  longest  one  being  a  little  over  a  minute.

  Uncle  Ray  creates  a  very  heavy  sound  with  their  mixture  of  grindcore  and  power  violence  as  well  as  using  a  perfect  balance  between  slow  and  fast  riffing,  the  production  sound s very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Uncle  Ray  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  grindcore  and  power  violence  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Thief"  "Shit  Life"  and  "Miserable".  8  out  of  10. 

Gravecore/Bad Songs From Corners Of Hell/2014 EP Review

  Gravecore  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grind,  death  metal  and  hardcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  ep  "Bad Songs  From  Corners  Of  Hell".

  Drum  beats  and  distorted  bass  guitars  start  off  the  ep  before  adding  in  aggressive  hardcore  shouts  that  evolved  into  grindcore  screams  along  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  which  also  leads  up  to  a  heavier  guitar  sound  which  is  also  heavily  influenced  by  old  school  death  metal  and  the  band  also  brings  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Bass  guitars  have  a  very  powerful  presence  on  this  recording  as  well  as  being  one  of  the  main  instruments  and  they  music  also  utilizes  a  lot  of  the  raw  aggression  of  early  death  metal  and  grindcore  bands  as  well  as  having  their  songs  being  very  short  with  the  longest  one  being  almost  4  minutes  long  and  as  the  ep  progresses  more  death  metal  growls  are  added  into  the  bands  musical  sound.

  Gravecore  takes  the  80's  style  of  grindcore  and  mixes  it  with  old  school  death  metal  and  the  raw  energy  of  punk  rock  to  create  their  own  sound,  the  production sounds  very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore,  violent  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Gravecore  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  grind,  old  school  death  metal  and  hardcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fuck  You" "Jesus  Hendrix"  "Hate,  Guide  Me"  and  "Hate  Corruption".  8  out  of  10.  

Bangladeshi Bulldozer/Demolition/2014 EP Review

  Bangladeshi  Bulldozer  are  a  band  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grindcore,  punk  rock  and  noise  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  ep  "Demolition".

  Spoken  word  parts  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  more  heavy  and  raw  punk  rock  direction  along  with  some  blast  beats,  melodic  guitar  leads  and  shouting  vocals  and  all  of  the  songs  are  very  short  in  length  with  the  longest  one  being  over  a  minute  and  you  can  also  hear  the  rawness  of  noise  and  grindcore  in  the  bands  musical  sound.

  Bangladeshi  Bulldozer  creates  a  very  raw  punk  sound  with  their  music  while  also  adding  in  the  brutality  of  grindcore  and  noise  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent,  humorous  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Bangladeshi  Bulldozer  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  punk,  grindcore  and  noise  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "1  Second  Love"  "Fuck  Heaven,  I'd  Rather  Be  In  Hell"  and  "Hospital  Doughnut  Abortions".  8  out  of  10.

    

Electric Bear Trap/The Scrawny/2014 EP Review

  Electric  Bear  Trap  are  a  band  from  Illinois  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grindcore,  thrash  metal  and  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  ep  "The  Scrawny".

  Drum  beats,  punk  rock  style  vocals  and  melodic  riffing  starts  off  the  ep with  the  following  track  being  in  whale  sounds,  growls  and  heavier  guitars  while  the  last  track  starts  off  with  spoken  word  samples  before  going  into  a  more  fast  direction  that  combines  grindcore  and  punk  together  and  all  3  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length  with  the  last  track  being  the  only  song  that  is  longer  than  a  minute  and  you  can  hear  some  melodic  thrash  in  the  guitar  riffing  on  the  last  song.

  Electric  Bear  Trap  focus  more  on  a  comical  musical  direction  while  remaining  heavy  at  the  same  time,  the  production  sounds  very  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  humorous  and  demented  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Electric  Bear  Trap  are  a  very  decent  sounding  mixture  of  grindcore,  thrash  and  punk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "I.N.R.I.T.C".  7/5  out  of  10.  

  

Al's Toy Barn/Self Titled/2014 EP Review

  Al's  Toy  Barn  are  a  band  from  Australia  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grindcore,  power  violence,  screamo  and  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  and  self  titled  2014  ep.

  A  very  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  high  pitched  screams  and  after  awhile  the  music  gets  more  brutal  along  with  some  fast  riffing  and  blast  beats  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  all  of  the  songs  are  very  short  in  length  with  the  longest  being  close  to  3  minutes.

  The  screams  have  a  black  metal  feeling  to t hem  at  times  and  the  music  combines  a  variety  of  many  different  musical  genres  together  and  once  leads  are  added  into  the  music  they  bring  a  more  post  hardcore  feeling  to  the  bands  musical  sound  and  the  vocals  on  the  last  track  use  more  anger  and  shouts  as  well  as  adding  in  a  few  seconds  of  clean  guitars  which  gives  the  music  a  more  emo  feeling.

  Al's  Toy  Barn  create  a  very  original  sound  with  their  music  taking  the  raw  aggression  of  grindcore  and  power  violence  and  mixing  it  in  with  the  energy  of  punk  rock  and  the  melody  of  screamo  and  post  hardcore  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  humorous  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Al's  Toy  Barn  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  grindcore,  power  violence,  punk  and  screamo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Guilt  Trip"   "Free  Parking"  and  "Force  7".  8  out  of  10.  

Pig Heart Transplant/For Mass Consumption/20 Buck Spin/2014 CD Review

  Pig  Heart  Transplant  are  a  solo  project  from  Seattle,  Washington  that  includes  a  member  of  Iron  Long  and  plays  a  mixture  of  power  violence  harsh  noise  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2014  album  "For  Mass  Consumption"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  20  Buck  Spin.

  Harsh  power  electronics  and  noises  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  aggressive  shouting  vocals  which brings  an  industrial  feeling  to  the  recording  and  after  awhile  drums  are  added  into  the  music  and  gives  the  recording  a more  noise  rock  feeling  and  the  power  electronics  get  more  diverse  as  the  album  progresses.

  Guitars  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  that  bring  in  a  very distorted  sound  to t he  music  along  with  some  slow  riffing  that  has  no  melody  or  rhythm  being  utilized  and  you  can  hear some  ambient  drones  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  the  vocals  bringing  in  an  influence  of  hardcore  at  times  and  all  of  the  tracks  are  under  a  minute  in  length  while  there  is  still  a  great  amount  of  diversity  presented  in  the  songs.

  Pig  Heart  Transplant  creates  a  noise  album  that  is  very  diverse  as  well  as  making  his  sound  a  lot  more  interesting  than  most  bands  or  artist's  of  the  musical  genre,  the  production  has  a   very  raw  and  heavy  sound  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Pig  heart  Transplant  are  a  very  great  sounding  harsh  noise/noisecore  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Film"  "Numb"  "1970"  and  "Mute".  8  out  of  10.     

Castle Freak/Still Rotting/2014 EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Castle  Freak  which  shows  the  band  continuing  their  raw  and  brutal  mixture  of  old  school  death  metal,  grindcore  and  punk  with  the  ep  being  self  released  in  2014  and  called  "Still  Rotting".

  Dark  sounding  horror  movie  synths  and  spoken  word  samples  start  off  the ep  before  adding  in  a  slow,  dark  and  heavy  old  school  death  metal  sound  along  with  some  melodies  and  high  pitched  screams  which  leads  to  the  band  going  for  more  of  a  mid  paced  direction  while  still  keeping  around  the  slower  elements.

  After  awhile  the  raw  energy  of  punk  rock  and  melodic  guitar  solos  are  added  into  the  music  which  leads  up  to  more  brutal  grindcore  elements  being  added  into  their  musical  sound  while  still  remaining  true  to  mostly  an  old  school  death  metal  sound  and  spoken  word  samples  also  make  their  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  Castle  Freak  show  a  great  amount  of  progress  on  this  recording  adding  in  a  more  old  school  death  metal  feeling  while  grindcore  and  punk  are  still  a  very  huge  part  of  their  musical  sound,  the  production  has  a  very  old  school  and  heavy  sound  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore  and  horror  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Castle  Freak  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  death  metal,  grindcore  and  punk,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sickening  Corpses"  and  "Rotting".  8  out  of  10.
