Liviet Som Insats/Check Your Grind/EveryDayHate Records/2016 CD Review

  Livet  Som  Insats  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  mixture  of  crust  and  grindcore  and  this  is a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Check  Your  Gind"  which  was  released  by  EveryDayHate  Records.

  Distorted  amp sounds  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  along  with  the  band  talking  to  the  crowd  which  also  leads  up  to  crust  style  yelling  and  a  brutal  yet  fast  grindcore  sound  that  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  and  beats  and  high  pitched  screams  are  also  brought  into  the  music  at times.

  Most  of  the  songs  are  very  short  in  length  while  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  raw  energy  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are present  on  the  recording  and  some  of  the  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  that  also  adds  in  a  touch  of  death  metal  and  the  whole  album  also  remains  very  heavy  and  brutal  form  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  Livet  Som  Insats  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  crust,  grind  and  hardcore  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  some  very  aggressive  and  brutal  music,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  mixture  of  Swedish  and  English  and  cover  fateful  and  real  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Livet  Som  Insata  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  crust,  hardcore  and  grind  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Like  And  Share"  "Sound  Of  Oblivion"  "Tack  For  Ingenting"  and  "Instadeath".  8  out  of  10.  
            

  

 

Rot/Old Dirty Grindcores 2007-1991/Give Praise Records/2016 CD Compilation Review

  Rot  are  a  band  from  Brazil  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grindcore  and  power  violence  and  this  is  a  review  of t heir double  compilation  album  "Old Dirty Grindcores 2007-1991"  which  was  released  by  Give  Praise  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  grindcore  sound  starts  off  the  album a long  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  growling  vocals  and  you  can  also  hear  elements  of  crust  and  power  violence  in t he  bands  musical  style  and some  of  the  riffs  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in length  and  the  songs  also  mix  in  a  lot  of  old  school  punk  influences  and  as  the  compilation  progresses  more  high  pitched  screams  are  added  into  the  music  and  some  tracks  also  mix  in  elements  of  noisecore  and  some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  while some  songs  add  in  a  touch  of  hardcore and  some  of  the  songs  are  recorded  live  and  their  is  also  a  few  seconds  of  spoken  word  parts and  a  couple  of  the   songs  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  guitar  leads .

  Rot  played  a  style  of  power  violence  and  grindcore  that  was  very  brutal,  heavy  and r aw  throughout  the  years  while  also  having a  touch  of  noisecore  and  also  show  why  they  had  a  huge  influence  on  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore  and  real  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Rot  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  grindcore  and  power  violence  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should c heck  out  this  band.  8/2  out  of  10.  

   

 

Necrot/The Labyrinth/Tankcrimes/2016 CD Review

  Necrot  are  a  band  from  Oakland,  California  that  plays  a  very  old  school  form  of  death  metal  with  a  touch  of  crust  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "The  Labyrinth"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Tankcrimes.

  A  very  heavy  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  screams  a  few  seconds  later  and  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  and  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  death  metal  growls  while  the  guitar  riffing  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of morbid  sounding  melodies.

  Throughout  the  recording  there  is  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are present  on  the  recording  and  only  one  of  the  songs  brings  in  a  brief  use  of guitar  solos  and  leads  and  while  the  music  is  rooted  in  the  past  the  production  gives  the  tracks  more  of a  modern  feeling  and  the  album  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  from  the  beginning to  end  with  no  soft  or  clean  parts  ever  being  utilized.

  Necrot  plays  a  style  of  death  metal   that  is  very  heavy,  pure  and  brutal  in  the  old  school  tradition  with  a  touch  of  crust,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  gore  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Necrot  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  death  metal b and  with  a  touch  of  crust  punk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Consume  Control"  "The  End"  "and  "The  Abyss"  out  of  10.

ACxDC/Dsiparo/Here And Now Records/2016 Split 7 Inch Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  7  inch  between  California's  ACxDC  and  Australia's  Disparo  which  was  released  by  here  And  Now  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  ACxDC  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grind,  power  violence  and  hardcore.

  Their  side  of  the  split  stats  out  with  A  very  heavy  hardcore  sound  along  with some  aggressive  vocals  a  few  seconds  later  that  also  use  grindcore  screams  at  times  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  d  beats  are  added  into  the  music  and  all  of  the musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  speeding  up  a  bit  as  well  as  bringing  in  more  of  a  brutal  sound  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  most  of  their  songs  are  short  in  length,  the  production  sounds  very  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  real  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  ACxDC  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  grind,  power  violence  and  hardcore and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Shoot  First"  and  "Light  Bringer".

  Next  up  is  Disparo  a  band  that  plays  fastcore.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  brutal  grindcore  sound  along  with  some  aggressive  screams  and  punk  style  female  vocals  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording  and  they  also  mix  in  a  great  amount  of  crust  punk  elements  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  most  of  their  songs  are  very  short  in  length  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  guitar  leads,  the  production  sounds  very  heavy  and  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  angry  and  real  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Disparo  are  a  very  great  sounding  fastcore  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Too  Far  Gone"  and  "Game  Over".

  In  conclusion  i  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  grind,  crust,  hardcore,  power  violence  and  fastcore.  8  out  of  10.

     

EdxKemper/Cut Her head And Love Her/Symbol Of Domination Productions/2016 EP Review

  EdxKemper  are  a  band  from  Greece  that  plays  a  mixture of  brutal  goregrind  and  crust  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  ep  "Cut  Her  Head  And  Love  Her"  which  will  be  released  on  March  13th  by  Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions.

  A  very  heavy  sound  along  with  grindcore  screams  and  brutal  blast  beats  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  crust  style  vocals  in  the  background  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  a  lot  of  90's  influences  in  the  bands  musical  style.

   Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length  and  you  can  also  hear  elements  of  death  metal  in  the  bands  musical  style  and  some  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  there  are  also  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  ever  being  utilized  and  the  whole  ep  also  remains  very  heavy,  raw  and  brutal  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  EdxKemper  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  brutal  gore/grind  and  mixes  it  with  crustcore  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  hateful,  violent  and  gore  themes.

  In  my  opinion  EdxKemper  are a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  gore/grind  and  crustcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dead  And  Gone"  "Desperate  Cries"  "For  A  Piece  Of  Rotten  Flesh"  and  "Not  For  Your  Eyes".  8  out  of  10.          

 

Sea of Despair/The Sea of Despair/Wolfshade Records/2014 CD Re-Issue Review

  Sea  of  Despair  are  a  band  from  Russia that  plays  a  mixture  of  goth,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  209 album  "The  Sea  of  Despair"  which  was  re-issued  in  2014  by  Wolfshade  Records.

  Rain  and  thunder  sounds  along  with  tragic  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  album  while  spoken  word  parts  and  melodic guitar  leads  are added  onto  the  recording  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  leads  up  to  a  heavier  musical  direction  where  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

  Violins  can  be  heard  in some  parts  of  the  songs  and  the  music  also  mixes  in  a  lot  of  early  90's  atmospheric  doom/death  metal  elements  while  the  female  vocals  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  goth  metal  feeling  while  growls  are  also  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  and  all  of  the  tracks  stick  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction.

  Sea  of  Despair  plays  a  style  of  goth  doom/death  metal  to  goes  back  to  the  early  90's  style  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russian  and  cover  nature,  darkness, sorrow,  and  evil  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Sea  of  Despair  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  goth,  doom  and death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Tears  Of  Rain"  "Twilight  Winter"  and  "The  Waves  Of  Despair".  8  out  of  10.  

Spinebreaker/Ice Grave/Creator-Destructor Records/2016 CD Review

  Spinebreaker  are  a  band  from  California  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  death  metal  with  a  touch  of  d  beat  and  hardcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Ice  grave"  which  was  released  by  Creator-Destroyer  Records.

  Nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  and  after  the  intro  the  music  goes  into  a  90's  Swedish  influenced  death  metal  direction  and  after  awhile  screams  and  growls  make  their  presence  known  on  the  recording  and  some  of  the  riffing  brings  melody  onto  the  recording while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  very  powerful.

  When  the  music  speeds  up a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  some  elements  of  hardcore  and  d  beat  in  the  bands  musical  style and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts.

While  the  music  is  rooted  in  the  early  90's  the  way  the  band  approaches  the  music makes  it  sound  very  modern  again  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  give  the  songs  even  more  of  a  raw  and  filthy  death  metal  feeling  and  they  also  bring  in  an  instrumental  track  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  acoustic  guitars  before  making  a return  back  to  a  heavier  musical  direction  while  also  keeping  around  the  acoustic  parts.

  Spinebreaker  plays  a  style  of  old  school  death  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  Swedish  tradition  while  also  adding  in  a  touch  of  hardcore  and  d  beat  to  update  this  genre  for  modern  days,  the production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  hatred  and  suicide themes.

  In  my  opinion  Spinebreaker  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  death  metal  band  with  a  touch  of  hardcore  and  d  beat  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check   out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Into  The  Ice  Grave"  "Severed  Denial"  "Flesh  Wound"  and  "Divine  Mortal  Being".  8  out  of  10.
