God Mother/Artemis/WOOAAARG/2016 Split EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a split  ep  between  Sweden's  God  Mother  and  the  United  Kigdom's  Artemis  which  was  released  by  WOOAAARG  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  God  Mother  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  noise,  grind,  power  violence  and  post  hardcore.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  distorted  amp  sounds  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction a long  with  some  aggressive  hardcore  screams  and  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mount  of  blast  beats  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to them  and  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  very  distorted  yet  melodic  sounding.

   The  songs  also  bring  in a   great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  some  songs  also  bring  in noise  rock  elements  and  back  up  shouts  while  the  music  also  brings  in  the  heaviness  of  grind  and  power  violence  along  with  some  melodic  riffing,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  angry  and  real life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  God  Mother  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  noise,  grind,  power  violence  and  post  hardcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out t his  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Loss".

  Next  up  is  Artemis  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grind  and  post  hardcore.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  distorted  yet  heavy  power  violence  sound  along  with  some  aggressive  hardcore  style  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and fast  parts  and  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent  and  angry  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Artemis  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  grind  and  post  hardcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Absentees".  8  out  of  10.

   

Implode/The Anti Comex EP/

  Implode  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  melodic  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  ep  which  is all  cover  tunes  of  legendary  Swedish  crust  punk  act  Anti  Cimex.

  Drum  beats  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  a  few  seconds  later  along  with  some  of  the  riffs  utilizing  melodies  and  on  the  second  track  the  music  starts  going  into  more  of  a  heavy  and  fast  crust  punk  direction  along  with  some  growling  vocals  that  add  in  elements  of  death  metal  onto  the  recording.

 Blast  beats  can  be  heard  quite  a  bit  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  music  and  the  guitar  leads  also  bring  in  more  of  a  melodic  style  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  high  pitched  screams  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recoridng  while  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length  and  the  whole  ep  also  remains  heavy  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  Implode  takes  the  songs  of  Anti  Cimex  and  mixes  their  melodic  death  metal  style  with  the  crust  punk  style  of  the  original  tracks  to  create  a  very  aggressive  tribute,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  angry  and  political  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  recording  from  Implode  and if  you  are  a  fan  of  death,  thrash  metal  and  crust,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "March  Of  The  Wolves"  and  "Nailbiter".  8  out  of  10.

Necrot Interview

>> 1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

Hey thanks for the interview! The last time we were in the studio was September of 2013. Since then we have done four tours and wrote new songs for our first full length record which will be out in Spring of 2017.

>> 2.You have a new album coming out in April, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

The new album is a compilation of our three demos. We sold out of our demos very early on and have always wanted to release them on vinyl but we were waiting for the right time to put them out. Scotty from Tankcrimes offered to release it for us and we were really happy to work with him!

>> 3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjectsthe band explores with the newer music?

The lyrics are mostly inspired by the mortal nature of our human life and the way everything comes to an end. Also by modern society and the way it traps people into an illusion of happiness when the reality is that we live in a world of injustice where nobody is really free.

>> 4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Necrot'?

The name Necrot means rotting and dying as an unavoidable practice of all living things. Every day you're a little more rotten and a step closer to your expiration date.

>> 5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

>> 6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

We are currently on tour with our friends skullshitter on the east coast of the United States. After that we will be recording our new album and playing select shows to raise money to pay for the recording.

>> 7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death metal?

I would say we are doing good at this point. People continue to hear us and support us when we play live. We have a good following and people buy our records and t-shirts. We would like to go to Europe and Japan by the time the next album is released.

>>
>> 8.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

Luca is continuing with Vastum and the recently reformed Acephalix. Vastum just released a new record. Sonny plays with Saviours, who also just released a new record and have toured already a few times this year. Chad is working with Atrament, Rude, Caffa, and Mortuous. Atrament's debut record was released this year. He also recorded drums for the second Rude album and Caffa's second demo which will be out by the end of 2016.

>> 9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We want to keep making great music and we don't intend to stop. We will always improve upon our past recordings but the quality of what we produce will always be our greatest effort.

>>
>> 10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I'd have to say early death metal and punk like death, immolation, grave, bolt thrower, morbid angel, discharge is what our sound is most often musically compared to. Very straightforward songs with hidden technicality that you have to really pay attention to in order to catch it. Some bands we listen to now would be morbid angel, possessed, autopsy, extreme noise terror, Motörhead, slayer.

>> 11.What are some of your non musical interests?

Between working, playing music and going on tour, we don't have much time to do much since we are very busy. We do find some time to go to other bands shows once in a while.

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
We just released the EP and are now on tour in canada to support it. writing new material as well.

2.Recently you have released a new ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
New ep sounds louder, faster, dirtier then the last album. Wanted to go back to the vibe of our first EP/Demo.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Lyrically the album is all about personal struggle. The whole out with the old, in with the new mentality.


4.Some of the lyrics on the new recording have an occult vibe to them, do any of the band members have any interest in Occultism?
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. Love is the law, love under will.


5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Hopeless Youth'?
It reflects the inherent revolt that dwells in the spirit of the youth as it comes up against strong social oppositions. Sure, we may call it hopelessness, but that wont stop anyone from fighting.


6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Anything that was in a small, damp room has been fun to play. Basements, DIY venues, and this alleyway have been our favourite spots so far. We don't like anything fancy on stage, hate smoke machines, and pretty much just like to head bang.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
as of tomorrow we'll be leaving to play shows across Canada.

8.The new ep was released through both Rainville Records and 'Pluto Records', are you happy with the support they have given you so far?
Couldn't of asked for anything more.

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer music by fans of crust, grind, and hardcore?
reviews have only started coming out, but everything has been really well received so far.

10.When can we expect another full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

11.What are some of the bands or musical projects that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
we're influenced by almost everything musically. None of us really listen to the same things. We've been listening to Wormwitch, Apes, Hashed Out, Mortality Rate, Slumlord, and a bunch of other bands in the van lately.

12.What are some of your non musical interests?
Movies, movies and more movies.

Hopeless Youth/Devil, Walk With Me/Rainville Records/Pluto Records/2016 EP Review

  Hopeless  Youth  are  a  band  from Quebec,  Canada  that  plays  a  mixture  of  crust,  grind  and  hardcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  ep  "Devil,  Walk  With  Me"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Rainville  Records  and  Pluto  Records.

  A  very  hard  yet  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  drum  beats  a  few  seconds  later  before  high  pitched  grindcore  screams  make  their  presence  known  on  the recording  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  along  with  some  elements  of  crust  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  very  powerful.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  energy  of  punk  and  hardcore  and  the music  is  also  more  closer to  the  more  modern  side  of  the  later  mentioned  genre  and  the  whole  ep  also  remains  very  heavy  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  Hopeless  Youth  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  crust,  grind  and  hardcore  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  very  heavy  sounding  recording,  the  production  sounds  very  profesisonal  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  occult  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Hopeless  Youth  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  crust,  grind  and  hardcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Devil,  Walk  With  Me"  and  "Lightbearer".  8  out  of  10.

   

Lightless Moor/Hymn For The Fallen/WormHoleDeath Records/2016 Full Length Review

  Lightless  Moor  are  a  band  from  italy  that  plays  a  gothic  form  of  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Hymn  For  The  Fallen"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  WormHoleDeath  Records.

  A  very  heavy  and  symphonic  sound  along  with  melodic  guitar  leads  start  off  the  album  and  when  female  vocals  are  added  into t he  music  they  give  the  songs  more  of  a  gothic  feeling  while  death  metal  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  you  can  also  hear  some  of t he  early  90's  doom/death  metal  style  in  the  bands  musical style.

  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  some parts  of  the  songs  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  a  good  amount  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  music  also gets  very  depressive  at  times and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts, as  the  album  progresses elements  of  electronic  music  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  touch  of  mainstream  rock  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  melodic  male  vocals  and  when  classical  guitars  are  used  briefly  they  add  in  a  touch  of  folk  music  and  the  songs  stick  either  to  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction.

  Lightless  Moor  plays  a  style  of  gothic  metal t hat  is  very  dark  and  melodic  while  also  bringing  in  the  heaviness  of  doom  and  death  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  sorrow  and  dark  romanticism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Lightless  Moor  are  a  very  great  sounding  gothic  metal  band  and  if  you  are a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fairytales  Of  Lies"  "The  Rain  the  Clears  My  Sins  Away"  "When  My  Mind  Sleeps"  and  "Deviances".  8  out  of  10.  

Morgue Supplier/Self Titled/Obscure Musick/2016 CD Review

  Morgue  Supplier  are  a  band  from  Illinois  that  plays  a  mixture  of  death  metal  and  grindcore  with  a  touch  of  crust  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2016  album which  was  released  by  Obscure  Musick.

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  grindcore  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beat  and  noisecore  style  screams  before  they  start  adding  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  death  metal  growls  becoming  a  huge  part  of  the  recording  and  you  can  also  hear  a  touch  of  power  violence  at  times.

  Some  of t he  riffs  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  the  music  can  also  get  very  technical  and  progressive  at  times  without losing  any  brutality  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  distorted  fashion  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  under  3  minutes  while  you  can  still h ear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  and  one  track  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples  while  all  of  the  songs  stick  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  and  the  last track b rings  in a  touch  of  black  metal.

  Morgue  Supplier  plays  a  musical  style t hat  takes  a  brutal,  progressive  and  technical  style  and  mixes  it  with  grindcore  and  a  touch  of  power  violence  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  insanity  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Morgue  Supplier  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cultic  Rape"  "Graveyard  Filler"  "Dead  Room"  and  "Broken  Gods".  8  out  of  10.
