Wvrm/Where All Light Dies/2014 EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Wvrm  which sees  the  band  continuing  their  mixture  of  grind,  power  violence,  death  metal,  hardcore  and  punk  with  the  ep  being  self  released  in  2014  and  called  "Where  All  Light  Dies".

  A  very  fast,  aggressive,  raw  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  a  mixture  of  both  growls  and  screams  and  the  music  goes  for  more  of  crust  grind  direction  this  time  around  and  some  of  the  later  tracks  also  sees  the  band  bringing  in  a  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  There  is  a  good  amount  of  reverb  noises  in  the  bands  musical  style  along  with  some  hardcore  and  power  violence  breakdowns  and  the  songs  are  also  a  lot  more  shorter  this  time  around  with  none  of  the  tracks  being  as  long  as  2  minutes  and  you  can  also  hear  a  lot  of  death  metal elements  in  the  slower  and  heavier  parts  the  band  brings  into  the  music  and  after  awhile  there  is  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples.

  Wvrm  remain  true  to  their  grindcore  and hardcore  mixture  as  well  as  being  a  bit  more  death  metal  influenced  this  time  around,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  violent  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Wvrm  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  grind,  power  violence,  death  metal,  hardcore  and  punk,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Smell  Ov  Old  Graves"  "Assisted  Suicide"  and  "A  Casket  to  Call  Home".  8  out  of  10.  

Wvrm/Despair/2013 EP Review

  Wvrm  are  a  band  from  South  Carolina  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grindcore,  power  violence,  death  metal  and  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2013  ep  "Despair".

  A  very  distorted  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  growls  and  powerful  sounding  bass  guitars  and  after  awhile  the  music  goes  into  a  faster  direction  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  screams  and  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in  old  school  grindcore  and  the y also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  All  of  the  songs  are  very  short  in  length  with  the  longest  one  being  close  to  3  minutes  and  the  band  also  adds  in  hardcore  breakdowns  and  elements  of  power  violence,  d  beat  and  crust  in  their  musical  sound  as  well  as  being  influence  by  brutal  and  old  school  death  metal  along  with  the  raw  aggression  of  punk  rock.

  Wvrm  creates  some  very  fast,  raw  and  grindcore  with  their  musical sound  and  the  ep  is  very  heavy  from  beginning  to  end,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  violent  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Wvrm  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of   grindcore,  power  violence,  hardcore  death  metal  and  punk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Angel  Crusher"  "Coffin  Dragger"  and  "Cry  baby".  8  out  of  10.     

Puig Destroyer/Wait For Spring/2013 EP Review

  This  is  another  review  of  a  recording  from  Puig  Destroyer  which  shows  the  band  continuing  their  mixture  of  hardcore  and  grind  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2013  ep  "Wait  For  Spring".

  Airplane  noises  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  spoken  word  samples  before  going  into  a  fast  and  brutal  grindcore  direction  along  with  some  vocals  that  combine  screams,  shouts  and  growls  and  the  band  also  brings  in  a  lot  of  blast  beats  into t heir  musical  sound  along  with  a  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  You  can  hear  a  great  amount  of  crust  and  hardcore  influences  in  the  bands  musical  sound  and  they  also  sound  more  focus  and  serious  this  time  around  and  as  the  ep  progresses  the  band  also  brings  in  a  small  amount  of  melodic  guitar  leads  and  riffs  and  all  of  the  songs  are  very  short  with  the  longest  one  being a  little  over  a  minute.

  Puig  Destroyer  remain  true  to  their  mixture  of  hardcore  and  grind  while  also  sounding  a  lot  more  heavy,  pissed  off  and  serious  this  time  around,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  baseball  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Puig  Destroyer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  hardcore  and  grind,  you  should c heck  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Rise  And  Grind"  "Controlled  Violence"  and  "Fuck  The  Media".  8  out  of  10.

Puig Destroyer/Self Titled/The Ghost Is Clear Records/2013 EP Review

  Puig  Destroyer  are  a  band  from  California  that  plays  a  mixture  of  hardcore  and grind  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2013  ep  which  was  released  by  the  Ghost  Is  Clear  Records.

  A  very  heavy,  raw  and  fast  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  high  pitched  screams  and  blast  beats  and  the  band  also  adds  in  a  good  amount  of  hardcore  breakdowns  along  with  samples  from  baseball  games  and  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  crustcore  elements  in  the  bands  musical  sound.

  There  is  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  throughout  the  recording  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  at  times  the  band  also  adds  in  yelling  vocals  and  after  awhile  a  small  amount  of  harsh  noise  sounds  are  added  into  the  bands  musical  sound..

  Puig  Destroyer  create  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  sounding  with  their  mixture  of  hardcore  and  grind  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  being  short  in  length,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful,  raw  and  heavy  sounding  while  the  lyrics  cover  baseball  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Puig  Destroyer  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  hardcore  and  grin  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should c heck  out  the  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Destroyer  Of  baseballs"  and  "Stop  Fucking  Bunting".  8  out  of  10.  

  

Population Control/War Machines/2014 EP Review

  Population  Control  are  a  band  from  Australia  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grindcore,  death  metal,  crust,  punk  and  hardcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  ep  "War  Machines".

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  fast  grindcore  direction  along  with  blast  beats  and  death  metal  growls  and  the  band  also  slows  down  at  times  and  adds  in  hardcore  style  breakdowns  and  on  the  other  tracks  the  bass  playing  sounds  very  powerful  and  they  also  add  more  death  metal  influences  into t heir  musical  sound.

  There  is  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  throughout  the  recording  and  each  track  starts  off  with  a  spoken  word  samples  and  there  are  also  a  great  amount  of  old  school  grindcore  elements  and  brutality  being  displayed  on  the  tracks  and  all  of  the  songs  are  very  short  in  length  with  the  longest  one  being  a  little  over  2  minutes  and  they  also  close  the  ep  with  a  cover  of  Nasum's  "Scarecrows".

  Population  Control  have  a  very  heavy  and  old  school  style  of  brutal  grindcore  with  their  musical  sound  which  also  brings  in  other  musical  genres  as  well,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  you  can  still  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  violent  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Population  Control  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  grindcore,  death  metal,  crust,  punk  and  hardcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Force  Fed"  "Collapse"  "World  Burns  To  Death"  and  "Population  Control".  8  out  of  10.        

Full Of Hell/Music From The Dial/Not Punk Records/2013 Cassette Review

  Full  Of  Hell  are  a  band  from  Pennsylvania  that has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  noisecore,  grind  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  cassette  "Music  From  The  Dial"  which  was  released  by  Not  Punk  Records.

  Harsh  noise  sounds  start  off  the  cassette  along  with  some  drums  and  high  pitched  screams  a  few  seconds  later  which  leads  up  to  a  more  fast  crust/grind  musical  direction  and  the  band  also  brings  in  a  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  after  awhile  death  metal  growls  are  added  into  the  music.

  When  blast  beats  are  added  into  the  music  the  cassette  gets  more  brutal  and  shows  a  more  noisecore  orientated  sound  and  the  bass  guitars  on  the  ep  also  sound  very  powerful  and  there  are  also  a  lot  of  power  violence  elements  in  their  musical  sound  along  with  some  old  school  crust  and  d  beat  influences.

  Full  Of   Hell  creates  some  very  raw  and  heavy  noise  grind  with  their  new  ep  as  well  as  making  their  music  very  diverse,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  being  recorded  live  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  soundign  recording  from  Full  Of  Hell  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  noise,  grind  and  crust,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Coven  Of  the  Larynx"  and  "Fox  Womb".  8  out  of  10.  

Atara/Miserable Failure/Hang Them/Kaotoxin Records/2014 Split Album Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  France's  Atara  and  Miserable  Failure  called  "Hang  Them"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Kaotoxin  Records  and  we  well  start  off  the  review  with  Atara  a  band  that  plays a  mixture  of  crust  and  grindcore  with  a  black  metal  influence.

  Spoken  word  samples  from  the  1950's  start  off  their  side  of  the  split  before  going  into  a  very  heavy  musical direction  which  leads  to  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  crust/grind  sound  along  with  blast  beats  and  a  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  after  awhile t here  are  some  thrash  and  black  metal  influences  being  thrown  into  the  music  as  well  as  the  band  alternating  between  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  bringing  in  some  melody  with  the  black  metal  style  guitar  riffing.  

  Atara  sticks  mostly  to  a  mid  90's  style  of  crust/grind  but  stand  out  with  some  black  metal  elements  being  added  into  their  musical  sound,  the  production  on  their  side  of  the  split  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent  and  hateful  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Atara  are  a  very  great  sounding  crust/grindcore  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hang  Them"  and  "One  Minute  Left".

  Next  up  is  Miserable  Failure  a  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  continues  their  hardcore  and  grind  mixture  while  also  adding  in  more  black  metal  influences  this  time  around.  

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  off  with  a  horror  movie  sample  and  spoken  word  parts  before  going  into  a  fast  and  brutal  grindcore  direction  along  with  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  screams  and  they  also  add  in  some  hardcore  and  black  metal  elements  into  their  musical  sound  as  well  as  adding  in  growls  which  also  leads  to  a  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  all  of  the  musical instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  

  Miserable  Failure  remain  true  to  their  brutal mixture  of  hardcore  and  grind  with  the  music  on  this  split  and  this  is  some  of  their  heaviest  stuff,  the  production on  their  side  of  the  split  is  very  professional  sounding  while  the  lyrics  are  very  violent  in  subject  content.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Miserable  Failure  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Obituaries"  and  "May  You  Be  Cursed  Forever".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  grindcore.  8  out  of  10.
