Ulcer are a band from Poland that plays Swedish style d beat death metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Grant Us Death" which will be released by Pulverised Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a great amount of brutal sounding blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine old school Swedish death metal with d beat as well as a good amount of melody being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars are very dark and melodic sounding death metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals range from deep death metal growls, high pitched scream, spoken word parts and crustcore style shouts, while the lyrics cover darkness, horror and occult themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful and heavy sound that goes back to the early 90's.
In my opinion Ulcer are a very great sounding hybrid of Swedish style death metal and d beat and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Grant Us Death" "The Love Song" "The Pact" and "When Horror Comes". RECOMMENDED BUY.
