1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Hi, at the moment we have two main things going on. On the one hand we have
to work with our new singer on the old songs and on some new stuff. On the
other hand we plan our live activities and organise the administrative work.
Sounds a little bit boring but have to be done
2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album?
I would simply describe it as a kind of modern metal. I know that the people
need some comparisons. Maybe Envinyas sound is a rough mixture between older
Metallica, a little bit In Flames and a pinch of early Nightwish.
3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the new release
explores?
In our songs we describe the possible emotional abyss in the mind of the
people for example released by a broken relationship.
4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
The meaning of Envinya is equivalent to the word "change" or a "fresh
start". At the moment it fits absolutely to our current situation
5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and
how would you describe your stage performance?
We had two shows on festivals in 2011/2012 where we in my opinion did a
great show. The experience shows that Envinya works best on bigger stages
with a good sound. Because of the fact that we are six people in the band
and that we are everything but static on the stage we need some space.
We also like to interact with the audience so that both, the fans and the
band, had a great time together.
6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?
First we will play some single shows in Germany and on some festivals. Maybe
we will have a small tour at the end of 2013 but I think it is more likely
that we will realise our touring plans in 2014. But who knows
7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans
of melodic metal?
At the moment I can't answer this question. We get a lot of reviews but I
have no feedback yet how the fans like our music. For me it is very
interesting if there will be a different between the single countries.
8. Are there any other musical projects besides this band or is this a
full time line up?
I have another band called Adult Noise. This is an old school punk/hardcore
band. It sounds a little bit like Dead Kennedy's but it is definitive a side
project just for fun. Envinya simply takes a lot of time and attention.
9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
I think that we will have our focus on more ear catching refrains and
hooklines. But the main direction of Envinya wont change. I personally want
to have faster songs. So let's see. One thing for sure: Envinya will
definitely not become softer.
10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your
music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
My influences come from the early Thrash and Deathmetal era. Slayer's "Show
no Merci" and Death's "Scream Bloody Gore" were some milestones in my
musical history. Today it is not easy for a band to get my attention because
I know so many bands and styles from the past that it is hard for me to find
something new. Luckily there are some bands for example Kalmah and Ex Deo.
11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
I like to meet my friends have some beers and discuss the political day to
day madness. Deep in my heart I am still the revolutionary hoping that we
can change some bad circumstances.
12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview/
I hope that you find the music that touches your heart.
And extreme important: believe in yourself!
Maybe see you at an upcoming Envinya show
