Coffin Dust are a band from Pennsylvania that plays an old school mixture of death metal, thrash and crossover and this is a review of their 2016 album "Everything Is Dead" which will be released in May by Unholy Anarchy Records.
Horror movie style synths start off the album and after the intro the music goes into a heavier musical direction along with some evil yet melodic sounding guitar leads and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Morbid sounding melodies can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and after awhile death metal growls make their presence known on the recording along with a great amount of d beats and high pitched screams and when t he music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Throughout t he recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music is also very heavily rooted in the mid 80's and the riffs also mix in a great amount of thrash influences and some of t he tracks are very long and epic in length and while t he music is rooted in the past they approach the genre in more of a modern and they also do a cover of Slayer's "Metal Storm Face the Slayer"..
Coffin Dust goes back to the mid 80's style of death metal and mixes nit in with elements of thrash, crossover and d beat to create a very retro yet heavy sound, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover grave robbing, gore and horror themes.
In my opinion Coffin Dust are a very great sounding mixture of old school death metal, thrash and crossover with a touch of d beat and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gore Ensemble" "The Living Coffin" and "Everything Is Dead". 8/2 out of 10.
