(PARANOID) are a band from Sweden that plays d beat hardcore with a touch of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Satyagraha" which will be released in June by Southern Lord.
Militant beats start off the album along with some elements of noise and radio sounds before going into a very fast crust punk direction t hat uses a great amount of blast and d beats along with some hardcore style shouting vocals and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they remain true to a crustcore style while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and you can also hear a great amount of first wave black metal elements in the bands musical style and the music is very heavily rooted in the 80's but with a more modern production and a great portion of the tracks are very short in length and as the album progresses melodies can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and some songs also bring in grindcore style vocals and drones along with ambient sounds are added onto the last track
(PARANOID) plays a style of d beat hardcore that is very heavily rooted in the early 80's British and Swedish traditions while also adding in touches of first wave black metal and Japanese noisecore to create a style of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Japanese and cover violent and angry themes.
In my opinion (PARANOID) are a very great sounding d beat hardcore band with a touch of black metal and noise and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Kaihou" "Bouryoku" "Shihaisya" and "Chinurareta Tousou". 8 out of 10.
