Swarn are an international band with members from Canada and Estonia that play a mixture of crust and d beat with a touch of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2017 cassette which was released by Wulfrune Worxx.
Drum beats and heavy guitar riffing starts off the ep before going into a very fast crust punk direction that uses aggressive vocals and d beats and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and some of the distortion adds in a touch of noise and th e music also mixes in a a lot of crust elements.
When solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very raw yet melodic style and some of the riffing adds in a decent amount of tremolo picking and there is also a brief use of black metal screams and all of the songs stick to a heavy style while also adding in a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Swarn plays a musical style that takes crust and d beat and mixes it in with a touch of black metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover violent and hateful themes.
In my opinion Swarn are a very great sounding mixture of crust and d beat with a touch of black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Brave Bastard" and "Dead Path". 8 out of 10.
