Blackwater are a band from Germany that plays a mixture of death metal and grindcore with some touches of slam and black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Weltgeist Corrupted" which will be released in November by WOOAAARGH.
A very heavy and brutal grindcore sound starts off the album along with some guttural death metal growls and high pitched screams while the faster sections of the songs bring in a great amount of blast beats along with some elements of slam in the mid tempo sections of the songs.
High pitched black metal screams are also utilized at times along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion and throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. some of the fast riffs also bring in a decent amount of tremolo picking and some of the tracks are very short in length.
Blackwater plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in brutal death metal and grindcore while the elements of slam and black metal gives the songs a lot more originality, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, violent, occult, political and conspiracy theory themes.
In my opinion Blackwater are a very great sounding mixture of brutal death metal and grindcore with touches of slam and black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Weltgeist Corrupted" "Conspiracy Theorist" "Of Behemoth And Leviathan" and "Clonal Expansion". 8 out of 10.
