Svalbard are a band from England that plays a mixture of crust, hardcore and post rock with a touch of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "One Day this Will All End" which will be released in December by Halo Of Flies.
A very dark, distorted and melodic sound starts off the album before getting a lot more heavy and also adding in screaming vocals before speeding up and adding in blast beats as well as mixing crust and melodic post hardcore together and the solos and leads also bring in the melody of post rock.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and some of the fast riffs are very heavily influenced by black metal and a couple of the tracks also bring in a brief use of clean singing and some of the screams mix screamo and black metal together and they close the album with an instrumental track.
Svalbard plays a musical style that takes crust, melodic hardcore and crust and mixes it in with a touch of black metal to create a style of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Svalbard are a very great sounding mixture of crust, melodic hardcore and post rock with a touch of black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Perspective" "Expect Equal Respect" "The Damage Done" and "Lily". 8 out of 10.
