Slumlord are a band from Edmonton, Alberta. Canada that plays a mixture of noise, grind and hardcore and this is a review of their self released 2018 album "Preview Of Hell".
Drum beats start off the album along with some heavy riffs and screams a few seconds alter which also takes the music into more of a hardcore direction along with the riffs also bringing in a decent amount of melody as well as some death metal growls also being utilized at times.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and grindcore elements can be heard while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as most of the tracks being very short in length and some songs also mix in touches of d beat, thrash and harsh noise and they also bring in a couple of instrumentals as the album progresses before returning back to vocal tracks.
Slumlord plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in hardcore while also mixing in elements of thrash, noise and grindcore to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover violent and angry themes.
In my opinion Slumlord are a very great sounding mixture of thrash, noise, grind and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Committed Soul" "Test My Power" "Total Nothing" and "Patiently Waiting". 8 out of 10.
