My Dying Bride are a band that are from England that has been around since the mid 80's and are pioneers of the gothic death/doom metal genre and this is a review of their 1993 classic album "Turn Loose The Swans" which was released by Peaceville Records.
Drums are mostly slow beats with no fast playing or blast beats while the violin sounds very dark and gives the music a very tragic feel as for the piano it sounds very depressing and gives the music a romantic feel.
Bass playing sounds very professional with some lead bass but most of the time it is slow rythyms while the rythym guitars are slow and melodic riffs that are very depressing sounding and at times there are some midpaced riffs and there are little or no guitar leads on the album.
Vocals are mostly clean singing with some really dark and deep death metal growls mixed in with some ocassinal female vocals while the lyrics are very dark and depressing, as for the production on this album which was recorded and mixed at Academy Studios in West Yorkshire, England during the months of June and July during the year of 1993 sounds very professional and all of the instruments have masterpiece quality sound.
In my opinion this was a masterpiece album and any true fan of gothic/doom/death metal should have this album in their collection. STANDOUT TRACKS INCLUDE "Your River" "The Crown Of Sympathy" and "Black God". RECOMMENDED BUY
