This is a review of a split album between Greece's Hillbilly Revenge and Human Slaughter called "Hillbilly Slaughter" which was released by Witches Brew in 2015 and we will start off the review with Hillbilly Revenge a band that plays a mixture of thrash metal and crossover.
Their side of the split starts out with a very hard and heavy old school thrash metal sound that also mixes in element s of 80's hardcore and crossover and you can also hear melodies in certain sections of their songs and when vocals are added into the music they bring in a punk style of thrash being aggressive while also using actual singing at times.
You can also hear a small amount of back up gang shouts at times and the tracks also have a good sense of humor to them and when solos and leads are utilized they add even more of a melodic style on the songs they are presented on, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics cover daily life, society and humor.
In my opinion Hillbilly Revenge are a very great sounding mixture of crossover and thrash and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Zombie Town Mosh" and "Reduced To Decay".
Next up is Human Slaughter a band that plays a mixture of death, thrash metal, crust and crossover.
Their side of the split starts out with a very old school thrash metal sound and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and when vocals are added into the music they mix death metal style growls with and crust and grindcore style screaming and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while t he solos and leads remain true to an 80's style of extreme metal, the production sounds professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of both English and Greek and cover society, political and life themes.
In my opinion Human Slaughter are a very great sounding mixture of death, thrash metal, crust and crossover and if you are a fan of those musical genre, you should check out this band and their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Doomsday Is Coming" and "A Good Cop Is A Dead Cop".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and i would recommend it to all fans of thrash, death metal, crust and crossover. 8 out of 10.
