Occult 45 are a band from Pennsylvania that has been featured before in this zine and plays a brutal mixture of crust and grindcore and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Human Abhorrence" which will be released in March by Broken Limbs
A very heavy and brutal sound starts off the ep along with some death metal growls before the music speeds up and adds in blast beats, crust and grindcore elements as well as using a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the band also brings in some dark sounding melodies into some of t he tracks.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while some tracks also adds in a touch of noise music as well as back up crust style shouts and all of the tracks are very short in length with the longest one being only over 2 minutes and as the ep progresses a brief use of melodic guitar leads can be heard.
Occult $5 creates another raw and brutal crust/grindcore with this ep as well as adding in newer elements to evolve the sound from previous recordings, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover violence and horror movie themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Occult 45 and if you are a fan of crust and grindcore, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Plaster Saint" and "Succubi". 8 out of 10.
