Cruz are a band from Spain that plays a mixture of death metal, thrash and crust and this is a review of their 2016 album "Culto Abismal" which was released on cassette by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
Dark soundscapes start off the album and after a few seconds the music goes into a heavier direction w hich goes back to t he mid 80's styles of death and thrash metal along with some morbid sounding melodies and you can also hear all of the musicla isntruments that are present on the recording.
A great amount of crust, d beat and stenchcore elements can be heard throughout the recording while the vocals are mostly death metal growls with a few screams and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they bring in more of an old school metal/punk style and throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the album closes with soem dark sounding keyboards.
Cruz plays a musical style that takes and old school style of death meta and mixes it with thrash and crust to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion Cruz are a very great sounding mixture of death metal, thrash and crust and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Cops De Destral" "La Caza" and "Tumbas Ciclopeas". 8 out of 10.
