Insect Death are a solo project from Minnesota that plays old school grindcore with a touch of crust and this is a review of his 2016 ep "Perpetuating Idiocy" which was released as a joint effort between Zero Budget and Twin Tyrant Records.
A very heavy and aggressive grindcore sound starts off the ep along with some blast beats and a mixture of high pitched screams and blast beats and the music goes for more of a 90's style of the genre and the songs bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while most of t he tracks are short in length.
While the music is very old school the production gives the songs a more modern edge and elements of crust and d beat can also be heard at times while some of the riffs also bring in a small amount of melody and none of the songs ever bring in guitar solos or leads and all of t he music sticks to a heavy sound.
Insect Death plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in grindcore while some crust, d beat and punk elements can be heard at times, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover violent, hateful and real life themes.
In my opinion Insect Death are a very great sounding grindcore solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Perpetuating Idiocy" "Oh the Total Bullshit Spewing From Your Mouth" "13 More Years" and "Force Fed the Empires Crumble". 8 out of 10.
