Mesrine are a band from Quebec, Canada that plays a mixture of grindcire and crust and this is a review of their 2017 album "Source Of Hatred" which was released by PRC Music.
A very heavy and grinding sound starts off the album and after awhile both d and blast beats are added onto t he recording along with some growling vocals which also gets very guttural at times and most of the tracks are very short in length and high pitched screams are also used at times.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the riffs also bring in a small amount of melody and you can also hear a great amount of crustcore influences throughout the recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the music always remains very heavy and brutal along with no guitar solos or leads ever being utilized.
Mesrine plays a style of grindcore that very heavy, raw and brutal in the old school tradition along with elements of crust, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover serial killer themes.
In my opinion Mesrine are a very great sounding mixture of crust and grindcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMEDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hopped To Death" "Infected Brain" "Too Many Gods" and "Source Of Hatred". 8 out of 10.
