Japanische Kamphorspiele are a band from Germany that plays a musical style they describe as being grindpunk and this is a review of their 2018 album "Back To Ze Roots" which will be released in March by Bastardized Recordings.
Death metal growls and brutal riffing start off the album along with some high pitched screams being used at times while the faster sections of the songs bring in a great amount of grindcore elements and blast beats as well as some the riffs bringing in a small amount of melody.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the solos and leads are done in a very chaotic yet melodic fashion along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some tracks also bringing in elements of crust punk and a great portion of the tracks are very short in length and as the album progresses a brief use of electronic music samples can be heard briefly and some tracks also bring in a small amount of guitar leads and synths and one of the later tracks is an instrumental.
Japanische Kampfhorspiele plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in grindcore and crust punk while also mixing in elements of technical death metal at times, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover ironical, social and political commentary themes.
In my opinion Japanische Kampfhorspiele are a very great sounding grindpunk band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dresscode" "Der Fleischdamon" "Musik" and "Auf der Sonnenseite des Globus". 8 out of 10.
