1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?
1.Hey. Corrodent is a one man grindcore band that started as an idea pretty long ago but recorded his first demo in 2017. The music is fast and is influenced by old school grindcore grindcore bands of the late 80s and early 90s.
2.So far you have released one demo and 2 splits, musically how do all of these releases differ from each other?
2. I think that with every release the music is going in the direction that I really want to go with Corrodent. It is hard for me to tell what are the differences, but I think that the main one is that the songs are much more powerful with every release in my opinion. I think the listener has to decide for himself and hear what are the differences.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with your music?
3.The main lyrical topics of Corrodent are animal cruelty, enviromental destruction, social problems and more personal issues. I started writing more against the first 2 topics that I mentioned but I didn't want to limit this project to only 2 subjects so all the the other things that I mention in my lyrics came naturally as well
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Corrodent'?
4.Simply because humans as a whole act in a corrosive way on this planet. Every choice we make as individuals, in the end are being seen on a mass scale. The products that we use, the behaviour in society towards each other, the way we treat nature, all of that is destructive behaviour for sure and we don't realise it. We just take more and more from this planet and we give nothing in return. I think that the name Corrodent, describes perfectly what I want to say in my tracks and I find the word very cool as well.
5.With this recording you record everything by yourself but have played in full line ups before with your previous bands, how would you compare the two?
5.I play and have played in many bands during the last years. I think this is very different from anything else I 've done before. I have played and recorded for many metal and punk bands but on this I had a much different approach. It is also very easy for me to write and release material right now, as I am the only member of the band and I don't have to make any compromises. Of course there is a downside to this, as I believe, that being in a band with different members can help and give another influence and ideas to your riffs and song structures. There is only one more project that I am currently working on with another member that is similar to this, but this is not ready yet
6.According to the metal archives page the band is based in both Greece and Germany but there is only one member, can you tell us a little bit more about it?
6.I was born in Greece where I also grew up and stayed for most of my life. I moved to Germany around 3 years ago. The project started actually in Germany but I feel I have more in common with the Greek DIY scene than with the German at this moment. To make it a bit funny, I am from Poland and not Greek or German, but I haven't lived for a long time in Poland. Maybe in the future, who knows?
7.Can you tell us a little bit more about the bands or musical artists that you have shared splits with so far?
7.The first split that I made was a 4way with Teknokrater,Chikara and Lord Cernunnos. Teknokrater is a Noisecore band from Athens,Greece and Chikara is a d-beat/crust project and their members live in different countries like Sweden,Bosnia,Italy and Slovenia (at the moment). Lord Cernunnos is a noise/experimental project from the USA. This split just came as an idea from Jhonny from Chikara and Skitnaste Netlabel as a 4way because actually they make tons of splits every month and this release is also also release independently on CD-r format and if anyone wants a copy, then he/she should contact the guys from Teknokrater.
The Split with HeDied came as an idea as I had recorded some tracks and I were looking to release them physically and I found Aural Onslaught records that is back in the game since he had a break from releasing stuff. Then Donnie, the owner of this label, said that we could find a band and release a split. So after a short search we found the guys from HeDied. For now it is available only for digital download on Skitnaste netlabel bandcamp but soon it will be out on tape through Aural Onslaught.
Very soon there is another split to be released. It will be a 6way with Extreme Smoke 57,Chikara,Ludilo,DisTrust and Tolerance. Thera is a lot of more stuff to come soon except this one, so keep an eye (ear) on that.
8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of grindcore?
8.I don't have any kind of super fanbase but I see that my stuff has been checked by people from different parts of the world and that is a nice feeling. In general,I 've heard some nice opinions about Corrodent's music, so I guess it is ok.
9.Are you currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?
9.I play guitar in a Hardcore band called Angrier Than You and a Death Metal band called Daisy Cutter. I also have some other projects with other people that we have recorded most of the stuff but we haven't release it yet and it has been a while. I hope that soon we will finish this stuff. I am talking about a d-beat project/band from Athens and a Grindcore project with one more member not from somewhere else in Europe but I don't want to say too much about this right now because there is still a lot of work to be done.
10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?
10.For now I work for splits.Maybe a full lenght (don't expect anything more than 20 minutes, haha) will come in the future but I don't know exactly when. As for the second part of the question, I have no idea. :)
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
11.If you mean Corrodent, then the stuff that has influenced me the most is early (and not only) Grindcore bands of the late 80s and early 90s, a lot of D-beat/Crust, some Fast Hardcore and I think a good dose of Death Metal. Of course there are other styles of music that had an influence on me but in Corrodent you may not seem so obvious.
I still listen to Grindcore,Punk,Hardcore,Death Metal,Thrash,Crossover and all this stuff but I like also other kinds of music like some simple rock, sometimes some good old school hip hop and even some electronic music like early UK drum n bass from the 90s. I also enjoy ambient and experimental music. I think, I enjoy a lot of kinds of music without even caring about what genre is it. If I like it and see it and see that it has something nice to say, I will listen to it. This question is harder than I thought, because I could go on and on.
12.What are some of your non musical interests?
12.I like philosophical stuff but I wouldnt say that I have the biggest knowledge on the theme. I used to read a lot about ethics of humanity and stuff though and I like to have a cup of coffee or tea and talk with like minded people about those topics. I also try to keep fit a bit so I guess that some kind of interest but nothing super sporty. I would like to start a sport soon though. In reality is that as for my interest, I invest most of my time in music.
13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
13.Thanks to DoomToGrindZine for putting this interview up. Stay tuned because a lot of stuff is coming from Corrodent very soon!
