1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
1. Hello, we created this band in summer 2017, Richy (bass) and Tétar (drums) created the band, then Conrad (guitar) joined the band and I (Mickaël, vocals) completed the line up.
The musical direction was clear, playing the music we like, playing music inspired by the origins of grindcore with the death metal and punk hardcore crust roots that fit with it.
2.Can you tell us a little bit more about the grindcore style you went for on this recording?
2. We are influenced by Terrorizer and Nausea Los Angeles, but also early Napalm Death and repulsion, also Extreme Noise Terror and Doom, and the death metal of the 80's and early 90's, why ? because this what we like to hear and play, and that has marked us deeply.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
3. As a traditional grindcore band, subjects that touch us everyday in our lives, injustices, working class problems, reality of life, anti political and anti religious, anti capitalist themes, denouncing what is not acceptable in general in this world, also talking a bit of apocalyptic themes in some of the lyrics i wrote.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Massive Obliteration'?
4. The destruction of everything that exist, the total annihilation of the system, of the world, as a kind of prophecy.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?
5. An observation, a scheme, a staging of things that happening in this world.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
6. We don't have played much for now, but our 2nd gig was the one we are the most most satisfied about.
7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
7. Yes as i answer you in September 2018, we have 2 gigs this month that are coming, and after we will see what propostions we get, we are enthusiast about playing on st
8.The ep was released on 'Bleed Records', how did you get in contact with this label?
8. By Facebook, Fabien saw i talked about Massive Obliteration on facebook, then he contacted me because he heard our demo on bandcamp and he liked really what we play, and also he know us in real life, so he decided to propose us a deal with his label Bleed records, he wanted to releases good stuffs since a long time but as he told me he waited until to find the good bands with whom he want to w
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of grindcore?
9. For now as we are a new band, we are not yet very known, we have to do our proof in the time in the scene, play on stage etc... But all the reactions we got are very good, people that listen to our music seems to like really, they like the old school vibes of our grindcore and the quality of the music, this make us glad and proud, as we play this music with passion.
10.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?
10. Richy the bassist play also in a black thrash band called Infamy, Tétar the drummer has also a side project called Ohm i think, me i was already on vocalist in the past (early 00's) in a band called Gerbe of Life (grindcore death metal) and some years after i was drummer in grindcore/crust punk band called Social Plague, after some years of musical Hiatus i joined Massive Obliteration.
11.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
11. We don't have a date planned but yes we will work for the future album soon, we will also working for a future split.
12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
12. For me my influences are: Terrorizer,Nausea, Mule Skinner, Napalm Death,Phobia,Repulsion, the 2 first Carcass, Extreme Noise Terror,Doom,Disrupt, 80's Finnish and Swedish hardcore punk crust scene, hardcore from Uk and Boston too, 80's/90's death metal and brutal death metal, 80's thrash, industrial music...etc...etc...
For the band the main influence is Terrorizer/Nausea/Repulsion/Napalm Death/E.N.T/Doom... We still like to discover good bands recent or not,whatever the musical genre.
13.What are some of your non musical interests?
13. Enjoying the calm of walking in the nature (when i can), or just enjoying being in calm, or watching a good movie, or a good documentary, read a good book sometimes... Classic i want to say.
