Hallux Valgus are a band from Chile that plays a very old school form of death metal with elements of thrash and crust punk and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Death Will Prevail" which was released by Ex Nihilo Music.
Dark yet melodic guitar solos start off the ep while the music is very heavily rooted in the mid 80's to early 90's along with the faster sections of the songs bringing in a great amount of blast beats as well as the vocals being earlier era death metal growls and the music mixes in elements of d beat and thrash.
A decent amount of dark sounding melodies can also be heard in the guitar riffing while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and some of the faster sections of the songs also add in traces of mid 80's era grindcore and they close the ep with an instrumental.
Hallux Valgus plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in mid 80's era death metal while the thrash, grindcore and d beat elements makes the music stand out a lot more, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover death, necromancy, graves and pestilence themes.
In my opinion Hallux Valgus are a very great sounding old school death metal group with elements of thrash, grindcore and d beat and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Graveyard Ritual" "Under The Ritual Of Necromancy" and "Casket Land". 8 out of 10.
