Asschapel where a band from Nashville, Tennessee that plays a mixture of death metal, thrash and crust punk and this is a review of their 2016 compilation album "Total Destruction (1999-2016)" which will be released in July by Southern Lord.
Drum beats and amp noises start off the compilation before going into a heavier thrash metal direction along with some vocals that mix angry crust style shouting and screams with death metal growls and you can also hear a decent amount of melody and d beats in the songs while all of the musical instruments sound very powerful.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a decent amount of blast beats and most of the songs are very short in length and some tracks also bring in elements of power violence and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic yet distorted style and as the compilation progresses elements of speed metal can also be heard at times while some tracks also bring in a small amount of evil sounding synths.
Asschapel played a musical that took death, thrash metal, crust punk and power violence and mixed them together to create a style of their own, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover Satanism, Anti Religion, Killing and Death themes.
In my opinion Asschapel where a very great sounding mixture of thrash, death metal, crust punk and power violence and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Unholy Destruction" "The Final Command" "Godwhore" and "Rotting The Body". 8 out of 10.
