Totenmond are a band from Germany that plays a mixture of progressive death metal and crust punk and this is a review of their 2016 album "Der Letze Mond Ver Dem beil" which was released by Massacre Records.
Nature sounds start off the album along with some avant garde elements and after a couple of minutes clean guitars are added onto the recording and after awhile whispers and distorted guitars are added into the music before adding in death metal style growling vocals and some of t he tracks are very long and epic in length.
Spoken word samples can be heard in the music at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and they also mix in a lot of crust and d beat elements into the songs along with some melodic guitar riffing and when guitar leads are utilized they also use a decent of melody and the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Totenmond plays a musical style that takes crust punk and mixes it with progressive death metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover politics, society and history themes.
In my opinion Totenmond are a very great sounding mixture of crust punk and progressive death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Holle mit Hof" "Totet den Kong" "Fort Von Gott" and "Into The Fire". 8 out of 10.
