Rectal Smegma are a band from the Netherlands that plays a mixture of brutal death metal and gore/grind with touches of power violence and punk and this is a review of their 2016 album "Gnork" which was released by Rotten Roll Rex Records.
A very distorted sound starts off the album before going into a heavier musical direction and also introducing death metal growls and morbid sounding melodies and the vocals also get very guttural at times along with some high pitched grindcore screams being added into some parts of the songs and the music also brings in a great amount of mid 80's to early 90's influences.
Horror movie samples can be heard in some of the songs and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and crustcore elements can be heard and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and a great portion of the tracks are very short in length while some tracks also bring in porno sounds d the whole album also remains very heavy and brutal from beginning to ending of the recording.
Rectal Smegma plays a musical style that takes brutal death metal gore/grind and crust and mixes them together to create some very heavy music, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover gore, sex and excrement themes.
In my opinion Rectal Smegma are a very great sounding mixture of brutal death metal, gore/grind and crust and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gnork" "Goregrind Graveyard" "Retardo Pecardo" and "Beer And benefits". 8 out of 10.
