Gulch are a band from San Jose, California that plays a mixture of death metal, thrash, d beat, crust and hardcore and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Burning Desire To Draw last breath" which will be released in August by Creator-Destructor.
A very dark noise and ambient influenced intro starts off the ep before going into a very fast direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as a great amount of hardcore elements being utilized.
Vocals are mostly high pitched screams along with a few growls while d beats, crust and thrash elements are also utilized at times as well as the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and most of the tracks are very short in length and the riffs also add in a small amount of groove and guitar leads are added onto the closing track.
Gulch plays a musical style that takes death metal, thrash, d beat, crust and hardcore and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover angry themes.
In my opinion Gulch are a very great sounding mixture of death metal, thrash, d beat, crust and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Flesh Pursuit" and "Gruel For The beast". 8 out of 10.
