Sewer Trench are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of crust and grindcore with some elements of death and black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Optimism" which will be released on July 13th by WOOAAARGH.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album along with some screaming vocals a few seconds later while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them as well as the faster sections of the songs also bringing in a decent amount of d beats and most of the tracks are very short in length.
Grindcore elements and blast beats can be heard during the faster sections of the songs while some of the screams are also influenced by black metal along with a few death metal growls as well as the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, some of the fast riffing also brings in a decent amount of tremolo picking and melodies can also be heard in some of the riffs and the last track is long and epic in length which also introduces guitar leads onto the recording.
Sewer Trench plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in crust and grindcore while the death and black metal elements makes the music stand out a lot more, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, violent and humorous themes.
In my opinion Sewer Trench are a very great sounding mixture of crust and grindcore with some elements of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "All Dead" "Alphabet Soup" "Crippled Dying Fetus" and "Happiness". 8 out of 10.
